Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community which is situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term often think that it's a distinct island that lies west of Montreal however, the West Island is home to anything and everything that is found in the city of Lachine west. Many times, it is credited as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She had a dream to become a professional dancer but due to an explosive increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dance colleagues. According to an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I outgrew male partners I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting and Brugel was no exception. An instructor in drama at her high school pushed her in her direction that she required. It was suggested that she take part in the school's production. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the annual school production. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens receiving the greatest attention when she landed the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian on the Season 1 Cast of the show and was only seen on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
